Participate

Thank you for your interest in participating in the 2011 Walk for Autism-Virginia! Your participation in and commitment to this event will help raise awareness about the increasing frequency of autism and help raise funds to assist local families pay for autism treatments in the form of mini-grants through ASNV's Intervention Assistance Fund.

Each year we offer different ways to participate: a 5K Walk, a timed 5K Run and as a Virtual Walker through an online donation.  There is a fee required to register for each event. Please consider donating an additional amount along with your registration fee to help our teams reach their goals.  You can choose a team or individual fundraising page when you click on the DONATE/Register button.   If you would like to CREATE a Fundraising Page or TEAM you must do that BEFORE you register.

Fundraising

Please consider fundraising for this great cause.  You can establish your own Fundraising page or you can choose a page to support on the DONATE/Register tab.  Once you DONATE/Register through that page, you can send the link to your social contacts through Facebook, Twitter or email.  All donations go toward ASNV's Intervention Assistance Fund that awards quarterly mini-grants to families to provide reimbursement for therapies and treatments that are not covered by the state or by insurance.  These therapies often help individuals with autism reach their highest potential towards living as independently as possible in adulthood.  Applications and eligibility requirements for ASNV's Quarterly Mini-Grants can be found at www.asnv.org.

It is easy to establish a Fundraising page. 

  1. Click on "CREATE a Fundraising Page" tab on the home page.  You will be directed to email a Page Name, Photo, Goal and a few sentences about why you want to raise money for this cause.
  2. Once you send the email, your page will be created within 24 hours and you will receive a confirmation email with a link to your new Fundraising page. 
  3. AT THAT TIME go to your page and register for the Walk by clicking on the DONATE/Register tab on YOUR page (or the page of the team you have chosen to support).  Then your registration fee and any additional donation will go towards the goal of that Fundraising page. 
  4. Next you can send your Fundraising page out to all your friends, family, relatives and co-workers via Facebook, Twitter or email to spread the word and help meet your goal.  The more money we raise the more families we can help!  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Registration

IF YOU ARE SUPPORTING A FUNDRAISING or TEAM page, you MUST choose the page BEFORE you Register.

PLEASE consider donating additional amounts to your registration fee to help reach fundraising goals and to support local families. So when you register you will enter ONE total amount that should include your registration fee.

You will receive an email confirming your registration and the payment of your registration fee and any additional donation.

Please keep in mind that a fundraising page is NOT automatically set up when you register. It is a separate process and must be done BEFORE you register.
